Alan E Bayer’s Website Portfolio
Hello everyone, what follows is a list of websites that I have either been involved with, or completely in charge of. As you can see, the sites I have designed are clean and efficient, have excellent marketing built in, and the older ones rank well in the search engines.
I can’t tell you much about the websites owned by my employers, but you can read about how I contributed to the project, and what the sites look like.
I have worked with a variety of sites, including business websites, content sites, and e-commerce sites. These three types of websites make up about 95% of the websites that businesses have built and use.
Virtual Store Websites:
Virtual Stores are very much like full e-commerce sites in terms of their content, except that virtual stores don’t actually sell products. Instead, they refer web traffic to live e-commerce sites and collect commissions based on what they refer and sell. I have built these three from the ground up:
Vinyl Revinyl
The Concept:
Vinyl Revinyl is a website dedicated to new and used vinyl records. It includes the music of hundreds of artists (With more in the works). The website also includes a blog about music and vinyl. Monetization is accomplished through Google AdSense and the eBay Partner Network.
Work I did:
Pretty much built the entire site from scratch. I did not write all of the content, however. I did hire a copywriter to do 250 articles for the site. Every page is search engine optimized. I also did some pay-per-click advertising in the beginning to get the site out there. I also have done a fair amount of “free” advertising, and have built links regularly.
The Results:
I launched this website in July 2008. Within 3 months, it was getting over 150 visitors a day. It is currently a profitable website, and one I intend to continue building.
Si Civic
The Concept:
Si Civic is a website dedicated to the car I drive, the Honda Civic Si. It contains information about the car, an image gallery, a blog, and a virtual store. Monetization is accomplished through Google AdSense and the eBay Partner Network.
Work I did:
I have done 100% of the work on this website. I have written several pieces of content, search engine optimized this content, and begun the marketing process. I do not consider this site ready for prime-time at this moment.
The Results:
I launched this site in August 2008. It is not finished, however, and I have not marketed it heavily. It currently draws a few visitors a day.
Macbooks and More
The Concept:
A website that promotes Apple products and Mac computers. It currently only contains a virtual store, but it will eventually contain a blog and assorted articles. Monetization is currently limited to the eBay Partner Network. I may also incorporate AdSense.
What I Did:
I built this entire website from scratch. I wrote all of the content and SEO’d every page on the site. It is still very much in construction, but the look and feel is all ready. It still needs more content, and especially marketing.
The Results:
I built this site in September 2008. It has not been marketed at all. I haven’t even begun tracking web traffic yet. After composing some articles and beginning the link building process, I expect it to begin drawing traffic immediately.
E-Commerce Websites
E-Commerce websites are complicated. They involve displaying a catalog of products, including a shopping cart, which allows visitors to select what they want to buy, a payment processing system, and finally a fulfillment process. Also involved is customer service and marketing. I have worked in all of these capacities at the following e-commerce websites.
Bebe au Lait
The Concept:
Bebe au Lait is an industry leading designer of maternity/baby products. Their website functions as both an informational site about their business and an e-commerce store.
What I Did:
I consult Bebe au Lait on internet marketing. I cannot disclose anything beyond this due to my signing of a non-disclosure agreement.
WineGlobe
The Concept:
WineGlobe is an online wine and spirits retailer. The website is a straight e-commerce site.
What I Did:
I was hired as the Manager of Web Operations in March 2007. I did SEO, content development, image work (taking, editing), email marketing, database work, web analytics, and PPC. I was also involved with customer service, fulfillment, bookeeping and purchasing.
Business Websites:
Business websites involve notifying visitors about your business and encouraging them to partake in your services. I have worked on the following sites:
Alan E Bayer Enterprises LLC
The Concept:
AEB LLC is a website dedicated to what I do professionally. It serves as an informational site about my business and professional life. It includes the ability to request price quotes and contact me. It also has a blog about various internet marketing topics. I also have a neat little Twitter feed that documents a moment in the life of an internet marketer. This feed is very telling of what I do.
Work I Did:
I built this site 100% from scratch. Every word on it has been written by me. I have given the site full SEO treatment, as well as included some great features that allow people to contact me.
The Results:
You got here, didn’t you? I aim to help you do the same with your website.
Appraising Moreno Valley
The Concept:
Appraising Moreno Valley is a website dedicated to the Moreno Valley, CA. real estate market, and serves as a hub for my Mom’s real estate appraisal business. It contains a blog about real estate, as well as an appraisal request form.
Work I Did:
I did SEO for the site, as well as some content development. I also consult on web strategy, and keep up on the site’s analytics.
The Results:
The site does well for its very narrow niche. It appears at the top of the search engines for searches related to appraising in Moreno Valley.
Bayer Appraisals
Another of my Mom’s websites. This is her official Business site, which I have contributed SEO advice to.
Miscellaneous Websites
SEO Cheat Sheet
The Concept:
The SEO Cheat Sheet is an ebook that I wrote about search engine optimization. The site is pretty simple, basically a sales letter, a newsletter opt-in form, and information about my site analysis packages.
What I Did:
First up, I wrote the book. As the book was in the writing process, I built the site using standard HTML. In hindsight, I really wish that I had used WordPress to build the site…but, well…I didn’t. The site is completely SEO’d. I did some PPC ads for awhile, but mostly, I rely on affiliates to sell the book. Currently I have over 100 affiliates promoting my book.
The Results:
When I launched the book, it sold quite well. However, sales have slowed down more recently. I plan to create a version 2.0, and put more effort into this product.
